Mermaid Reef

It is located at the exact geographical point of Cabo de Gata, therefore, it is the easternmost part of southern Spain.

Surely the place owes its name to the presence of monk seals that inhabited this reef and that ancient sailors could confuse with mermaids.

The Lighthouse

The Cabo de Gata Lighthouse is a meeting point for the many tourists who come every year to the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park.

It is located very close to the Cabo de Gata Salt Flats and, around it, we also find some of the magnificent beaches of the Park.

Coves

The coves are small beaches with crystal clear water where you can swim sheltered from the wind and the crowds.

The Cabo de Gata Natural Park has a large number of them where Cala de Enmedio, Cala del Plomo, Cala De San Pedro, Cala Arena, Cala Rajá stand out.

Salinas Cabo de Gata

Las Salinas

Las Salinas de Cabo de Gata are located next to the town of La Almadraba de Moteleva. They are formed by several shallow ponds and are an example of a lagoon system converted by man as a saline, being the only ones remaining in operation in eastern Andalusia.

Las Salinas Church

The church of Las Salinas de Cabo de Gata is a Catholic Christian temple of the early twentieth century located in Las Salinas, between the neighborhoods of La Almadraba de Monteleva and Cabo de Gata. It was designed by the architect Enrique López Rull and was built in 1907.

Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park Information

The Cabo de Gata-Níjar Maritime-Terrestrial Natural Park is a Spanish protected natural area located in the province of Almería, Andalusia. It is the first maritime-terrestrial of Andalusia, created on December 23, 1987 to conserve its natural ecosystems and landscape values, serving educational, cultural, scientific, tourist, recreational and socio-economic interests.

It is one of the Spanish natural areas, affected by a greater number of protection figures, both natural and cultural. These inscriptions are based on its geological, ecological, historical, anthropological and landscape richness.
